Dear Colleagues, 

I am pleasured to announce our new conference Recent Advances in Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (RAAMP 2020) on the 5th & 6th of June 2020.

You are kindly invited to attend the conference in the prestigious city of Abu Dhabi.

Our eminent speakers will discuss the most recent developments and progress in Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. The conference is designed to have a comprehensive scientific discussion that will defy the obsolete practices in anesthesia and pain management. 

A multidisciplinary approach in this area of medicine plays a crucial role in maintaining patient safety and promoting positive patient recovery. We will explore the holistic clinical management of the patient from the preoperative assessment to full recovery and successful discharge from the hospital.

Dr. Arun Kumar

Consultant Cardiac Anesthesiologist and Director for Transplant Anesthesiology, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Dr. Arun Kumar is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He was previously a consultant Cardiac Anesthesiologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and a consultant Cardiac Anesthetist & Intensivist at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, UK. He has several publications to his credit in peer reviewed journals and is a regular faculty at national and international meetings.

Dr. Awadh Ali Al Mahri

Head of Anesthesiology Department, Sheikh Zayed Military Hospital

Dr. Awadh Ali Al Mahri is also a consultant anesthetist and the chief of the operations theatre in Zayed Military Hospital. He completed his subspecialization Diploma in Transthoracic ECHO and Diploma of Regional Anesthesia Guided US in Austria and France, respectively. Dr. Awadh has participated as speaker and chair in several international and national conferences in Anesthesiology and he is also a member of several organisations in anesthesiology locally and internationally.

Prof. John Doyle

Staff Anesthesiologist and Consultant, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Doyle was a professor of Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College and a staff anesthesiologist in Cleveland Clinic. He has has a longstanding interest in Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) Anesthesia and difficult airway management as well as an interest in the use of technology in medicine. Dr. Doyle's interest in research has been supported by a number of funding agencies and he holds positions on multiple editorial boards. His inventions include US Patent No. 4,203,008, as well as some unpatented bioacoustics inventions.

Prof. Khaled Ahmed Mohamed Yassen

Professor of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, Liver Institute - Menoufiya University, Egypt & College of Medicine - King Faisal University, KSA

Prof. Khaled was previously an anesthesia consultant at King Fahad National Guard Hospital in KSA and participated in the initial programme for live donor liver transplantation of Saudi Arabia. Prof. Khaled has latest qualifications of FFARCSI in Ireland in 1997 and Doctor of Medicine in Anesthesia at Ain Shams University in 1994. He also obtained his UK Diploma in Anesthesia in 1992.

Dr. Mai Mohamed Ismaiel

Consultant Anesthesia, Al Qassimi Hospital for Women and Children

Dr. Mai Mohamed Ismaiel graduated from Cairo University from where she also obtained both her Masters and Medical Doctorate Degrees in Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Her interest in Pediatrics started early in her career as it was the focus of both her academic and clinical researches. She is currently working in Al Qassimi Women's and Children's Hospital, Department of Anesthesia with specialized experienced in pediatric surgery, including major surgeries in neonates and infants. 

Prof. Massimo Lamperti

Chair of Anesthesiology Institute, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Prof. Massimo is also a Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, he worked as a consultant anesthesiologist and intensivist with particular interest in pediatric patients at National Neurological Institute Besta, in Milan, Italy. He is one of the main researchers in the field of point-of-care ultrasound. Dr. Lamperti is a peer reviewer of many international indexed journals in the field of anesthesiology, critical care, and neurosurgery. He is an associate editor of the British Journal of Anesthesia and Journal of Vascular Access.

Prof. Medhat Shalabi

Consultant Anesthesiologist and Head of Anesthesiology Department, Al Zahra Hospital 

Prof. Medhat Shalabi has the highest qualifications obtainable in Egypt and in the UK. He is also a regular guest speaker in many international anesthesia conferences and he is also a member of the editorial board of the Egyptian Journal of Anesthesia.  Prof. Shalabi is the Founder and President of the Pan Arab & Middle East Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Society, a formal chapter of the ERAS Society.  Prof. Shalabi is the Vice-President of the World Society of Intravenous Anesthesia (World SIVA).

Dr. Robert Andrew Fearnley

Consultant Anesthesiologist, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City

Dr. Fearnley has a special interest in anesthesia for organ transplantation thoracic anaesthesia and complex airway management. He completed undergraduate training at Cambridge University and became a fellow of the Royal College of Ansthesrists in 2009. He completed fellowships in liver transplantation at King's College, thoracic anaesthesia and complex airway anaesthesia at Guy's and intensive care medicine at The Royal Prince Alfred in Sydney. Before joining SMKC, he was the anaesthetic lead for transplantation at Guy's Hospital. Guy's is one of the eight kidney and pancreas transplant centres in the UK and one of the largest kidney transplant centres in Europe. 

Dr. Steven Green

Consultant Anesthesiologist, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Dr. Steven Green trained at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and did further fellowship training in Trauma Anesthesia at Royal Perth Hospital in Perth, Australia. Prior to working in Abu Dhabi, he was a consultant anesthesiologist at Royal Columbian Hospital in Vancouver area. He has an interest in echocardiography in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery, and he holds a diploma in Basic Perioperative TEE from the National Board of Echocardiography. He is also a testamur of the Adult Special Competence in Echocardiography exam.

Dr. Teodor Stefanov

Medical Director Pre-Anesthesia Testing & Associate Staff Physician, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Dr. Teodor Stefanov, apart from his current appointment, is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology in Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western University. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, he worked as consultant anesthesiologists in Bulgaria, China and, United Kingdom. Dr. Stefanov is a member of several professional societies in anesthesiology and has been presenting and teaching excellent anesthesia topics, both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Yasser Zaghloul

Consultant Anesthesiologist, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City

Dr. Yasser is currently the director of the Abu Dhabi Anesthesia Club and the Anesthesia Refresher Course. Prior to working in UAE, he worked as a consultant of anesthesia & ICU in Ireland. He obtained his degree in Faculty of Medicine in Alexandria University, Egypt. Dr. Yasser has been trained in anesthesia and critical care medicine both in Egypt and Ireland. He also has extensive experience and interest in neuro-anesthesia & neurocritical care, neonatal & pediatric anesthesia and perioperative medicine. Dr. Yasser delivered more than 200 lectures in international anesthesia, pain and ICU conferences.
